Seven Things That Will Keep You Motivated

Hi, its great to see you back!

We humans are all very emotional creatures. We set out on a new project whether it be a business, a new hobbie or new goals to maintain our housecleaning, with great enthusiasm. We are ready to conquer the world (at least our world).

However let a few obstacles cross our paths and suddenly all the world seems to be against us and we are not so sure we made the right decisions.

How can we get off of this emotional roller coaster and stay motivated and focused on our goals?

1. One major thing we so often forget is that we are made body, soul and spirit and we need to give time and attention to all three areas.

We don’t often realize how much one area of our being affects the other. (For example when we have pain in our body, our emotions, our motivation and our minds are affected).

Things that will greatly contribute to staying healthy are exercise, right diet, healthy relationships and taking time to relax as well as time alone to contemplate.

2. Have a strong life’s purpose.

If we are not already certain of your life’s purpose, our levels of motivation will surely change according to daily events.

  • One tip for find your life’s purpose:
    Write down all the things you think you would like to do while on this planet.

    Everything that comes to mind should be noted down until you find yourself jotting down something with tears welling up in your eyes.

    NOW you have found your true main purpose in life (your passion).

.
3. Have your goals and plans written out.

You need short term and long term goals.

With so much going on around us to distract us, it is easy to forget why we are doing what we are doing.

If we allow that vision to fade, there is less reason for staying motivated. It is good to have our short term and long term goals written out and pinned up on the wall in front of our desk or on the refrigerator to remind us of the “why” it is easier to keep going with vitality.

4. Keep a written copy of daily plans on your desk. A daily plan that is designed to step by step achieve our short term goals will keep us on track.

As we cross off items from our list of “things to do” there is a sense of achievement which keeps us is good spirits.

5. Avoid all negative comments, movies, influences.

We are surrounded by hundreds of influences on a daily basis. Things we hear, things we see all make an impression on our minds whether it be a negative or positive one. For the most part we have a choice as to what influences we will allow in our lives. Be alert to what you are watching and hearing. Is it making you more motivated or less inspired?

6. Use good background music while working: preferibly instrumental so as not to distract (e.g. jazz, light classical, classic pop).

Studies have now proven that certain music (such as Bethoven and Mozart) are beneficial to the brain while studying and working.

Music has been proven to:
* focus concentration
* increase attention
* improve memory
* release tension
plus many other positive effects.

Some low volume background music while working can definitely help us stay on track and get more done with enthusiasm.

7. Communicate with positive people.

For the same reason we need to avoid negative influences, we also need to expose ourselves to as much positive influence as we can.

Surrounding ourselves with postive people is one sure way to achieve this. How to do that? Reach out to them, enourage them, do what you can to help them. In other words, give first and it will come back to you.
