Do you know that the fear of failure will always paralyze your attempts to step out and succeed in your chosen path in life.
Fear is one of the strongest emotions that can pop up and try to stop you from succeeding.
Fear comes in many shapes and forms. Sometimes we may even mistake fear for precaution. Fear can even disguise itself as “being conservative”.
Now I am not saying that to succeed you have to be rash and reckless. Absolutely not. But you DO have to take some risks.
Someone said: “he is risks nothing, achieves nothing”. There is a great truth in that. Risk taking is a part of the path to success. Of course the risks need to be well calculated.
I know that the first time I flew out of Christchurch, New Zealand destined for the mission field (the unknown), it felt like I was jumping off a cliff. In fact across the years, each time the plane took off from NZ to go back to the other side of the world, this sensation was very real.
I never found the bottom of that cliff!
During one trip back to NZ, I met up with some of my collegues from the Bible college who told me “You were the only one in our class who knew what she was going to do and went out and did it”. (That’s actually a sad statement – for them).
Failure was never an option! So I succeeded

So what does it take to avoid the fear of failure?
FOCUS:
- You need a goal or target which will give you the direction.
- You need to be so focused on this goal, that failure does not even have room to enter your mind.
- Because you know what your goal is, decisions that you will need to make on the way will be easier.
Does this mean you will not make mistakes? I wish I could tell you that you won’t. You probably will. But again, because you are FOCUSED on your goal, those failures will not stop you from succeeding.
Stay busy with your success plan, and failure will be pushed out of your life.
